Washington Women in Theatre will be presenting a workshop reading of Sidra Rausch's new play Long Beach '44 at Georgia College and State University on October 28, 2008. The play is about two young Jewish cousins, wanna-be Nancy Drews, who discover a mysterious secret at the beach in Long Beach, Long Island. Their doctor Uncle arrives, seriously wounded at Normandy, to recuperate at their summer house and becomes caught up in the dangerous and surprising mystery. The play, based on a true New York Times story about a U-Boat that brings Nazis to Amagansett, had a recent successful production at the Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, D.C. directed by Karen Berman.
