RICHARD STEIN transformed the Laguna Playhouse into a major resident professional theatre over the course of 17 years as its Executive Director, producing more than 100 plays, including two national touring productions. There he also directed many notable productions, including Pulitzer Prize finalist Jon Marans’ Old Wicked Songs, World Premiere of Marans’ Jumping for Joy, American Premieres of Shmuel Hasfari’s The Master of the House, and Michael Weller’s What the Night is For, West Coast Premieres of Mitch Albom’s Tuesdays With Morrie (also at San Jose Repertory Theatre), Neil LaBute’s The Shape of Things and Bryony Lavery’s Last Easter, Arthur Miller’s The Price (Robby Award-Best Dramatic Production) and others. He is now a freelance director, producer, dramaturg and consultant.
