To explore relevant and difficult social issues in Israel as well as to present themes that Israel shares with the DiasporaTheatre History: Nephesh Theatre was founded in 1978 in Toronto where it operated as the only professional Jewish theatre in Canada during that time. After mounting over 30 theatre and television productions and touring throughout Canada and the United States, Nephesh moved its base to Israel. Today Nephesh Theatre offers a repertory of 8 plays in Hebrew and 5 plays in English making over 400 presentations annually both in Israel and abroad.National and International Cooperation: Nephesh has made close to 200 presentations abroad over the last 3 years. Its productions of "Make Yourself at Home", "It Sounds Better in Amharic", Ambassadors of Very Good Will", "EINSTEIN", and "Miracles and Tragedies" have toured throughout North America and England, Greece and Mexico.
