Milton Matz, a retired clinical psychologist, is also a rabbi and playwright. A University of Chicago Ph.D., he was managing partner of Matz Associates, providing communication and management relations coaching to CEOs and senior executives. He is also director of the Pastoral Psychology Institute of Case Western Reserve School of Medicine. The Institute is the oldest, interfaith, clinical continuing education program for clergy in the nation. The Hebrew Union College awarded him an honorary doctorate for his contribution to the fields of bereavement and pastoral training.
Familiar with the inner world of a large array of persons from all walks of life, Matz brings a keen, ethical perspective to the human condition. Gifted as a writer and lecturer, he shares his insights in humorous and intriguing ways. He lectures, writes and consults on gender, management and marriage relations, and on religious spiritual issues.
Long intrigued by the impact of the performing arts on the human condition, he finds additional voice through playwriting. He has been closely involved in the production of plays at the Center REP of the San Francisco/Bay Area, and has worked on Christmas Carol, Pavilion, Fugitive Kind and Pygmalion.
Currently he is director of the newly formed San Francisco/Bay Area PlayFEST. The Center REPertory Company in association with the Diablo Regional Arts Association, Contra Costa Jewish Community Center and St. Mary's College MFA Program in Creative Writing sponsor the annual Festival. It is established in memory of Ann Matz, his wife and partner.

Baruch established the doctrine of separation of church and state, which set the stage for the 350year romance between America and her Jews. His excommunication coincides in time with the first settlement of Jewish colonists in America. The play is ideally suited for observing the forthcoming celebration of 350 years of Jewish life in America.
