We believe that Jewish theater strengthens Jewish identity while also serving as a bridge between people of all cultures. Theatre Ariel produces and commissions work that serves as a prism through which we can view the varied colors of the American Jewish experience. Our writers also create theater that draws its inspiration from ancient stories, bringing contemporary insight to classic Jewish texts: reflecting on the past, examining the present and envisioning the future.Theatre Ariel produces an extensive Touring Repertoire reaching out to children, teens, families and adults. Theatre Ariel tours to schools, community centers, conferences, synagogues, theatres and nontraditional performing venues. In addition to performances, Theatre Ariel serves as an educational theater resource through its improv troupe ARIELPROV, Youth Theater programs, Teacher Training workshops and collaborations with the National Museum of American Jewish History. Theatre Ariel, a member of the Theatre Communications Group and the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadephia, is funded by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, family foundations and individual donors.2007-2008 SeasonOn Tour Dreamers, Demons and Queens: Tales from the Middle Eastby Gabrielle Kaplan-Mayer and Lisa Silberman-BrennerA MUSE: Journeys in American Jewish Historyby Louis GreensteinSilly Tales: Tales from Chelm - a word for word performancestorytelling with Jennifer Blaine and Eric Van WieFor Teens and Young Adults: ARIELPROVTheatre Ariel's improv troupeISRAELSHOP: From History to Hip-Hop/What’s Your ConnectionFor Adults: FACING EASTCelebrating Israeli literature and music10 IMAGININGS OF SARAI and HAGARby Gabrielle KaplanMayer with music by Juliet L.
