Membership, Application, Dues, Meetings

Section 1: Membership. Theatres whose mission statements or seasons promote production of plays that reflect the broad range of the Jewish Experience or individuals whose interests reflect active involvement in Jewish Theatre. All full members will receive full voting privileges.

Section 2: Application Procedure. Qualified theatres and individuals are admitted to membership in the Association by submission of a written application, including:

A. Full membership: A letter of intent from the director of the theater; a copy of the mission statement for the theatre; evidence of activity in Jewish theatre including a listing of productions the past two (2) seasons. Applicant theatres must have at least one full time staff person.

B. Associate Memberships: Emerging or developing theatres may join with all privileges except voting rights. Application will include the submission of a letter of intent from the director of the theater as well as a copy of the theatre's mission statement.

C. Individual memberships: Interested individuals must submit a letter of intent describing their interest and involvement in Jewish theatre. Individual members will be represented as a caucus with one vote on the board of the organization and in any general elections. Their representative on the board will serve with full voting privileges. Applications should be submitted to the Association for Jewish Theatre. Final approval for membership will be made by the Board of AJT.

Section 3: Dues. Annual dues for membership in the Association will be based on each theatre's annual budget with provisions for large, medium, and small theatre budgets as well as stipulated figures for individual and associate memberships. Specific dues structure and amounts will be dealt with by the Board and reevaluated on an annual basis. Dues will be assessed annually from September 1.

Section 4: Meetings. The annual conference and meeting of the Association shall be held at such place and time as determined by the Association. A midyear annual board meeting is strongly recommended. The President shall schedule at least four conference calls or special meetings of the Board annually. Theatres shall be represented by their designated representatives.
